"Opera-tif: Salut! to France"
From comedy to the sublime, delight in the best French Opera has to offer. You’ll swear the Champs-Élysées and Eiffel Tower are just outside the door as you luxuriate in the sounds of Paris and savour a divine French-inspired menu with matching wines.
The evening begins with a glass of bubbly and delectable entrée as you settle in for Bizet’s hilarious comic opera Doctor Miracle. This early work from the composer of Carmen is full of delightful tunes and comic ensembles. The story tells of an ingenious boyfriend who contrives to overcome his girlfriend’s parents’ objections to him. Complete with numerous disguises, action aplenty, and a rather unique omelette, you’ll wonder why you don’t see this little gem more often.
Following a delicious main course, sit back and enjoy a fine selection of elegant opera and song celebrating all things French. Expect tunes you’ll know and love from The Pearl Fishers, La traviata, Carmen, La bohème and more.
Finish off with a beautiful dessert and enjoy chatting to the Opera Bites cast members over coffee or tea before floating out into the “Paris night”. Truly an evening to remember.
Early bookings are recommended.
