Virginia Marie Stack
Virginia Marie Stack (Mezzo) began her career in New Zealand and since moving to Australia in 1998 has performed in a wide range of mezzo-soprano operatic roles and concert work both here and internationally. Virginia’s principal debut with Opera Australia came in 2003 in the role of Apprentice in Wagner’s The Meistersinger of Nuremberg. Other OA appearances include Otello, The Pearlfishers, The Cunning Little Vixen, Sweeney Todd, Dido and Aeneas, and Norma. Principal roles with other companies include Nicklausse in The Tales of Hoffman, the Title role in Carmen, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Fenena in Nabucco, Sextus in Julius Caesar, Tisbe in La Cenerentola, Berta and Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel and Siegrune and Second Norn in Der Ring des Nibelungen. Virginia is a passionate music educator and advocate for community involvement in the arts at all levels. She now combines performing with an extensive teaching practice encompassing professional singers and tertiary students as well as enthusiastic hobbyists of all ages! She is a senior tutor and conductor for the Australian Girls Choir and Adult Glee Club
